How Large is the Aloe Market?

When you have to define a strategic plan or take other important decisions about our industry, one of the main questions to resolve is the market size. In market research, you may analize a global market from both the supply or demand side.

One of the problems to measure the world market size for aloe products, from the demand side, is the diversification of products involved. Measuring the bulk aloe gel or juice business is not complicated, but to measure the end products which contains aloe is a bij and difficult task. In fact, different extrapolations of data should be done to obtain some results. Anyway, there are several market research companies offering market reports for herbal, juce, pharmaceutical or cosmetic products where aloe products are included, and some market size estimations are offered. But they are not complete.

From the supply side, it seems to be more practical to define the worldwide market, by evaluating the largest players and relevant competitors, and defining the market size. As in any market the total consumption figure is equal to domestic production (measured both in volume or value) plus imports +- stock accumulation. With light variations, you may get the actual market size from this perspective. However, the market value is different, because one thing is to measure the value of a product at ex works or FOB value and other thing is to measure itsvalue at distribution channel or at end consumer.

The aloe worldwide market has different values, because he methodologies used to measure it are different too.

Up to date, the more objetive figures are those shown in the IASC document "How large is the Aloe Market". But the information showed there comes from the supply side and the market value is defined in terms af aloe gel, not for end products.

In other posts we will be adding comments to this interesting subject.
